Objective: To explore the clinical effects of early rehabilitation treatment after repair surgery of skin and soft tissue defects accompanied by extensor tendon injury on the back of hand. Methods: This study was a retrospective non-randomized controlled study. From February 2015 to February 2023, 24 patients (15 males and 9 females, aged 12-55 years) with skin and soft tissue defects accompanied by extensor tendon injury on the back of hand, who met the inclusion criteria and were repaired with flap transplantation and tendon grafting or tendon anastomosis, were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University. According to different intervention time for postoperative rehabilitation treatment of patients, the patients were divided into conventional rehabilitation group and early rehabilitation group, with 12 cases in each group. Patients in early rehabilitation group received rehabilitation treatment immediately after surgery under the rehabilitation guidance of specialized rehabilitation physicians based on the characteristics of different postoperative periods. Patients in conventional rehabilitation group began rehabilitation treatment from the third week after surgery, and their rehabilitation treatment was the same as that of patients in early rehabilitation group from the second week after surgery. The patients in 2 groups were treated in the hospital until the sixth week after surgery. The occurrence of flap vascular crisis and tendon rupture were observed within 6 weeks after surgery. After 6 weeks of surgery, the manual muscle test was used to measure the pinching force between the index finger and thumb, lateral pinching force, three-point pinching force, and grip force of the affected hand; the total action motion method was used to evaluate the finger joint range of motion of the affected hand, and the excellent and good ratio was calculated; the Carroll upper extremity function test was used to score and rate the function of the affected hand. Results: Within 6 weeks after surgery, only 1 patient in conventional rehabilitation group suffered from venous crisis, and the flap survived after the second surgical exploration and anastomosis of blood vessels; there was no occurrence of tendon rupture in patients of 2 groups. After 6 weeks of surgery, there were no statistically significant differences in pinching force between the index finger and thumb, lateral pinching force, three-point pinching force, or grip force of the affected hand between the two groups of patients (P>0.05); the excellent and good ratio of the finger joint range of motion of the affected hand of patients in early rehabilitation group was 11/12, which was higher than 7/12 in conventional rehabilitation group, but there was no statistically significant difference (P>0.05); the affected hand function score of patients in early rehabilitation group was 90±6, which was significantly higher than 83±8 in conventional rehabilitation group (t=2.41, P<0.05); the function rating of the affected hand of patients in early rehabilitation group was obviously better than that in conventional rehabilitation group (Z=2.04, P<0.05). Conclusions: Early rehabilitation treatment for patients with skin and soft tissue defects accompanied by extensor tendon injury on the back of hand after repair surgery can improve hand function, but it would not increase surgery related complications, which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.

Objective: To explore the effect of exercise prescription based on a progressive mode in treating elderly patients with lower limb dysfunction after deep burns. Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted. From January 2021 to January 2023, 60 elderly patients with lower limb dysfunction after deep burns who met the inclusion criteria were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University. The patients were divided into conventional rehabilitation group (30 cases, 17 males and 13 females, aged (65±3) years) and combined rehabilitation group (30 cases, 16 males and 14 females, aged (64±3) years) according to the random number table. For patients in both groups, the red-light treatment was started after the lower limb wounds healed or when the total area of scattered residual wounds was less than 1% of the total body surface area. After 2 weeks of red-light treatment, the patients in conventional rehabilitation group were given conventional rehabilitation treatments, including joint stretching, resistance, and balance training; in addition to conventional rehabilitation treatments, the patients in combined rehabilitation group were given exercise prescription training based on a progressive mode three times a week, mainly including dumbbell press, Bobath ball horizontal support, and high-level pulldown trainings. The training time for patients in both groups was 12 weeks. Before training (after 2 weeks of red-light treatment) and after 12 weeks of training, the upper limb and lower limb motor functions of the patients were evaluated using the simple Fugl-Meyer scale, the physical fitness of patients was evaluated using the simple physical fitness scale, and the patient's risk of falling was evaluated by the time consumed for the timed up and go test. The adverse events of patients that occurred during training were recorded. After 12 weeks of training, a self-designed satisfaction survey was conducted to investigate patients' satisfaction with the training effect. Data were statistically analyzed with independent sample t test, paired sample t test, Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcoxon signed rank test, and chi-square test. Results: Before training, the scores of upper limb and lower limb motor functions of patients between the two groups were similar (P>0.05). After 12 weeks of training, the scores of upper limb motor function of patients in conventional rehabilitation group and combined rehabilitation group were significantly higher than those before training (with t values of -11.42 and -13.67, respectively, P<0.05), but there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). The score of lower limb motor function of patients in combined rehabilitation group was 28.9±2.6, which was significantly higher than 26.3±2.6 in conventional rehabilitation group (t=-3.90, P<0.05), and the scores of lower limb motor function of patients in conventional rehabilitation group and combined rehabilitation group were significantly higher than those before training (with t values of -4.14 and -6.94, respectively, P<0.05). Before training, the individual and total scores of physical fitness of patients between the two groups were similar (P>0.05). After 12 weeks of training, the balance ability score, walking speed score, chair sitting score, and total score of physical fitness of patients in conventional rehabilitation group and combined rehabilitation group were significantly increased compared with those before training (with Z values of -4.38, -3.55, -3.88, -4.65, -4.58, -4.68, -4.42, and -4.48, respectively, P<0.05), and the balance ability score, walking speed score, chair sitting score, and total score of physical fitness of patients in combined rehabilitation group were significantly increased compared with those in conventional rehabilitation group (with Z values of -3.93, -3.41, -3.19, and -5.33, P<0.05). Before training, the time consumed for the timed up and go test for patient's risk of falling in the two groups was close (P>0.05). After 12 weeks of training, the time consumed for the timed up and go test for patient's risk of falling in combined rehabilitation group was (28.0±2.1) s, which was significantly shorter than (30.5±1.8) s in conventional rehabilitation group (t=4.94, P<0.05). Moreover, the time consumed for the timed up and go test for patient's risk of falling in both conventional rehabilitation group and combined rehabilitation group was significantly shorter than that before training (with t values of 14.80 and 15.86, respectively, P<0.05). During the training period, no adverse events such as muscle tissue strain, edema, or falling occurred in any patient. After 12 weeks of training, the satisfaction score of patients with the training effect in combined rehabilitation group was 13.5±1.2, which was significantly higher than 8.5±1.4 in conventional rehabilitation group (t=21.78, P<0.05). Conclusions: The exercise prescription training based on a progressive mode can significantly promote the recovery of lower limb motor function and physical fitness of elderly patients with lower limb dysfunction after deep burns, and effectively reduce the patient's risk of falling without causing adverse events during the training period, resulting in patient's high satisfaction with the training effect.

Objective: To explore the family rehabilitation model for children with scar contracture after hand burns and observe its efficacy. Methods: A retrospective non-randomized controlled study was conducted. From March 2020 to March 2021, 30 children with scar contracture after deep partial-thickness to full-thickness burns of hands, who met the inclusion criteria, were hospitalized in the Burn Center of PLA of the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University. According to the rehabilitation model adopted, 18 children (23 affected hands) were included in a group mainly treated by family rehabilitation (hereinafter referred to as family rehabilitation group), and 12 children (15 affected hands) were included in another group mainly treated by hospital rehabilitation (hereinafter referred to as hospital rehabilitation group). In the former group, there were 11 males and 7 females, aged (4.8±2.1) years, who began rehabilitation treatment (3.1±0.8) d after wound healing; in the latter group, there were 7 males and 5 females, aged (4.6±2.1) years, who began rehabilitation treatment (2.8±0.7) d after wound healing. The children in hospital rehabilitation group mainly received active and passive rehabilitation training in the hospital, supplemented by independent rehabilitation training after returning home; after 1-2 weeks of active and passive rehabilitation training in the hospital, the children in family rehabilitation group received active and passive rehabilitation training at home under the guidance of rehabilitation therapists through WeChat platform. Both groups of children were treated for 6 months. During the treatment, they wore pressure gloves and used hand flexion training belts and finger splitting braces. Before treatment and after 6 months of treatment, the modified Vancouver scar scale, the total active movement of the hand method, and Carroll quantitative test of upper extremity function were used to score/rate the scar of the affected hand (with the difference of scar score between before treatment and after treatment being calculated), the joint range of motion (with excellent and good ratio being calculated), and the function of the affected limb, respectively. Data were statistically analyzed with independent sample t test, equivalence test, Fisher's exact probability test, and Mann-Whitney U test. Results: The differences of scar scores of the affected hands of children in family rehabilitation group and hospital rehabilitation group between after 6 months of treatment and those before treatment were 3.0 (2.0, 7.0) and 3.0 (2.0, 8.0) respectively (with 95% confidence interval of 2.37-5.38 and 1.95-5.91). The 95% confidence interval of the difference between the differences of the two groups was -2.43-2.21, which was within the equivalent boundary value of -3-3 (P<0.05). The excellent and good ratios of joint range of motion of the affected hand of children in family rehabilitation group and hospital rehabilitation group were 3/23 and 2/15 respectively before treatment, and 15/23 and 12/15 respectively after 6 months of treatment. The ratings of joint range of motion of the affected hand of children in family rehabilitation group and hospital rehabilitation group after 6 months of treatment were significantly higher than those before treatment (with Z values of 3.58 and 2.30, respectively, P<0.05), but the ratings of joint range of motion of the affected hand between the two groups were similar before treatment and after 6 months of treatment (with Z values of 0.39 and 0.55, respectively, P>0.05). The functional ratings of the affected limbs of children in family rehabilitation group and hospital rehabilitation group after 6 months of treatment were significantly higher than those before treatment (with Z values of 3.98 and 3.51, respectively, P<0.05), but the functional ratings of the affected limbs between the two groups were similar before treatment and after 6 months of treatment (with Z values of 1.27 and 0.38, respectively, P>0.05). Conclusions: The WeChat platform assisted rehabilitation treatment with mainly family rehabilitation, combined with hand flexion and extension brace can effectively reduce the scarring after children's hand burns, improve the joint range of motion of the affected hands, and promote the recovery of affected limb function. The effect is similar to that of hospital-based rehabilitation providing an optional rehabilitation, treatment method for children who cannot continue to receive treatment in hospital.

Thiamethoxam belongs to the second generation of neonicotinoid insecticides, and case of acute poisoning with thiamethoxam had never reported in China. This paper reviewed a case of oral poisoning with thiamethoxam pesticides, the patient suffered vomiting, generalized convulsions, confusion, and decreased oxygen saturation. After treated with gastric lavage, ventilator support, and the use of propofol, midazolam, sodium phenobarbital, and sodium valproate, the convulsions could not be controlled. Untill treated with penehyclidine hydrochloride and hemoperfusion combined with hemofiltration, the patient finally recovered and was discharged from the hospital. We suggest that the main treatments for acute severe thiamethoxam poisoning are decontamination and symptomatic support, pentoxifylline hydrochloride and hemoperfusion combined with hemofiltration may improve the patients' prognosis.

Objective: To assess the association between short-term exposure level of nitrogen dioxide and the hospitalization risk of heart failure. Methods: Based on China-PEACE Retrospective Heart Failure Study, 117 364 hospitalized patients with heart failure were recruited from 92 hospitals in 62 cities throughout China between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2015. The daily exposure level of nitrogen dioxide, temperature, and humidity in the same cities during the same period were also collected. We applied the generalized additive model and Bayesian hierarchical model to quantify the lagged effect and cumulative effect of short-term (0-3 days) exposure to ambient nitrogen dioxide on the hospitalization risk of heart failure. We further conducted stratified analyses by age, region, and season to identify any difference in the associations between short-term nitrogen dioxide exposure and heart failure among subgroups. Results: The mean age for participants in the analysis was (70.32±12.22) years. The median, minimum and maximum of daily nitrogen dioxide concentration in 62 cities from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015 was 26.4 µg/m3, 2.33 µg/m3 and 150.25 µg/m3, respectively. The exposure level of nitrogen dioxide at the same day was associated with the hospitalization risk of heart failure (OR=1.022, 95%CI: 1.012, 1.031). Significant effects were also observed in the moving average concentrations from lag 0-1 to lag 0-3 day (OR=1.020, 95%CI: 1.009, 1.030; OR=1.016, 95%CI: 1.004, 1.028; OR=1.013, 95%CI: 1.001, 1.026). Moreover, all of the associations between short-term exposure to nitrogen dioxide and the risk of heart failure hospitalization were statistically significant, with no significant difference in all subgroups stratified by age, region, and season. Conclusion: A higher level of short-term exposure to nitrogen dioxide could trigger more hospitalizations with heart failure.

Objective: To observe the effect of progressive core muscle group training combined with lower limb intelligent rehabilitation training on burn patients with lower limb dysfunction. Methods: A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted. From March 2017 to May 2020, 60 patients with motor and balance dysfunction after deep partial-thickness burns or full-thickness burns of both lower extremities who met the inclusion criteria were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Military Medical University. They were divided into simple intelligent rehabilitation group (30 cases, 20 males and 10 females, aged (40±3) years) and combined rehabilitation group (30 cases, 16 males and 14 females, aged (39±3) years) according to the random number table method. The patients in both groups started red light treatment after the wound healing or when the scattered residual wound area was less than 5% total body surface area. After 2 weeks of red light treatment, patients in the combined rehabilitation group started progressive core muscle group training on the basis of lower limb intelligent rehabilitation training in simple intelligent rehabilitation group, and the training time was 6 weeks. Before and after 6 weeks of training, the lower limb motor function was evaluated with the simple Fugl-Meyer scale, the balance capacity was evaluated with the Berg balance scale, and the walking capacity was evaluated with the Holden walking ability rating scale. After 6 weeks of training, a self-designed questionnaire was used to investigate patients' satisfaction for the treatment effect. The patients were followed up for 6 months after the treatment to observe the balance stability of standing on one foot in the flexion position and their participation in activities of daily life. Data were statistically analyzed with independent sample t test, paired sample t test, and chi-square test. Results: Before training, the lower limb motor function score of patients in simple intelligent rehabilitation group was 24.9±2.7, which was close to 23.9±2.3 in combined rehabilitation group (P>0.05). After 6 weeks of training, the lower limb motor function score of patients in combined rehabilitation group was 29.6±3.9, which was significantly higher than 27.3±3.8 in simple rehabilitation group (t=-2.28, P<0.05). The lower limb motor function scores of patients in combined rehabilitation group and simple intelligent rehabilitation group after 6 weeks of training were significantly higher than those before training (with t values of -6.50 and -3.21, respectively, P<0.01). After 6 weeks of training, the balance capacity score of patients in combined rehabilitation group was 41±7, which was significantly higher than 36±5 in simple intelligent rehabilitation group (t=-2.68, P<0.05); the balance capacity scores of patients in combined rehabilitation group and simple intelligent rehabilitation group after 6 weeks of training were significantly higher than those before training (with t values of -8.72 and -8.09, respectively, P<0.01). After 6 weeks of training, the walking capacity grading of patients in combined rehabilitation group was significantly improved compared with that in simple intelligent rehabilitation group (χ2=-2.14, P<0.05), and the walking capacity grading of patients in simple intelligent rehabilitation group and combined rehabilitation group after 6 weeks of training was significantly improved compared with that before treatment (with χ2 values of -4.94 and -5.26, respectively, P<0.01). After 6 weeks of training, the satisfaction score for the treatment effect of patients in combined rehabilitation group was 13.7±1.2, which was significantly higher than 7.8±1.4 in simple intelligent rehabilitation group (t=22.84, P<0.01). The patients in both groups could stand on one foot to maintain balance in the flexion position of lower limb, and their activities of daily life were not affected 6 months after treatment. Conclusions: On the basis of conventional rehabilitation therapy, the combination of progressive core muscle group training and lower limb intelligent rehabilitation training can significantly promote the recovery of lower limb motor and balance function of burn patients.

OBJECTIVE: Glioma is characterized by high metastasis with poor outcomes. Long non-coding RNA metastasis associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) was well-explored in numerous human cancers, including glioma. This study aimed to provide a novel action mechanism of MALAT1 in glioma. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The expression of MALAT1, microRNA-384 (miR-384) and Golgi membrane protein 1 (GOLM1) was detected by quantitative Real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The protein levels of GOLM1, light chain3 (LC3-II/LC3-I), p62, Vimentin and E-cadherin were proved by Western blot. Cell migration and invasion were monitored using the transwell assay. Bioinformatics tool starBase was used to predict target genes and associated binding sites. RNA immunoprecipitation assay (RIP) and dual-luciferase reporter assay were utilized to verify the relationship between miR-384 and MALAT1 or GOLM1. Tumor formation analysis in nude mice was conducted to ascertain the role of MALAT1 in vivo. RESULTS: MALAT1 was highly expressed in glioma tissues and cells. MALAT1 knockdown inhibited autophagy, migration and invasion of glioma cells. MiR-384 was a target of MALAT1, and miR-384 inhibition reversed the effects of MALAT1 knockdown in glioma cells. GOLM1 was a target of miR-384, and miR-384 inhibition eliminated the function of GOLM1 downregulation in glioma cells. In addition, GOLM1 was regulated by MALAT1 through miR-384. Moreover, MALAT1 knockdown blocked tumor growth and development in vivo. CONCLUSIONS: MALAT1 knockdown depleted migration and invasion by inhibiting autophagy through MALAT1/miR-384/GOLM1 axis in glioma in vitro and in vivo. The MALAT1/miR-384/GOLM1 axis was first proposed in our report, enriching the action mechanism of MALAT1 in glioma.

OBJECTIVE: Glioma is a primary intracranial tumor with an unfavorable prognosis. Evolving evidence indicates that circular RNA Tau tubulin kinase 2 (circ-TTBK2) is a cancer-associated gene. Therefore, this study was to explore the potential role of circ-TTBK2. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Levels of circ-TTBK2, microRNA (miR)-761, and integrin subunit beta 8 (ITGB8) were determined by adopting quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) or Western blot. 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay was performed to detect cell viability, and the invaded cells were distinguished utilizing transwell assay. Iron and lipid reactive oxygen species (ROS) assays were implemented to examine the iron (total iron and ferrous iron) and lipid-based ROS in glioma cells, respectively. Besides, dual-luciferase reporter assay was administrated to illustrate the interaction between miR-761 and circ-TTBK2 or ITGB8. The role of circ-TTBK2 was identified via xenograft tumor model. RESULTS: Levels of circ-TTBK2 and ITGB8 were upregulated, whereas miR-761 level was low-expressed in glioma tissues and cells. Circ-TTBK2 was a sponge of miR-761 to modulate ITGB8. Additionally, circ-TTBK2 knockdown or miR-761 increase could retard cell proliferation, invasion, and promote ferroptosis in glioma cells. Interestingly, miR-761 inhibitor could abolish the repressive impact of circ-TTBK2 silencing on cell growth in vitro. Also, the influence of miR-761 mimic on cell phenotypes was regained after ITGB8 upregulation. Meanwhile, circ-TTBK2 deficiency caused the decrease of tumor growth. CONCLUSIONS: Circ-TTBK2 regulated cell proliferation, invasion and ferroptosis via targeting ITGB8 by sponging miR-761 in glioma, providing a promising biomarker for the clinical therapy of human glioma.

To investigate the effect of exogenous insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) on the healing of skin ulcers in diabetic rats, male Sprague Dawleys (SD) rats with back skin ulcers were selected and divided into control group, model group and IGF-1 treatment group which received different doses of IGF-1 (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0mg/L). The results showed that the healing speed of the skin ulcers was significantly affected by IGF-1, which reduced the size of wound (P less than 0.05). The expression of MMP-9 was enhanced while the expression of TIMP-1 was decreased in diabetic rats with skin ulcers. The IGF-1 treatment helped to re¬store the normal expression of both MMP-9 and TIMP-1 in diabetic rats with skin ulcers, and diabetic skin ulcers in the 1.5 mg/L IGF-1 group showed the best healing. Histological examination showed that after 20 days, fibroblasts in the IGF-1 experimental group with an appropriate concentration increased and the numbers of fibroblasts and capillaries were significantly higher than those of the other groups. Moreover, there were obvious wound surface contractions and re-epithelialization, and the new epithelium moved to the center of the wound faster. Therefore, it is concluded that an appropriate concentration of IGF-1 can significantly promote the healing of skin ulcers in diabetic rats.

Objective: To understand the disease progression and human leukocyte antigen (HLA) gene polymorphism of HIV-infected persons without disease progress for long term, also known as long-term non-progressors (LTNPs), in Henan province. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted in 48 LTNPs with complete detection and follow-up information during 2011-2016 in Henan. Changes of CD(4)(+)T cells counts (CD(4)) and viral load (VL) during follow-up period were discussed. Polymerase chain reaction-sequence-specific oligonucleotide probe (PCR-SSOP) was used for the analyses of HLA-A, HLA-B and HLA-DRB1 alleles between LTNPs and healthy controls. Results: From 2011 to 2016, forty-eight LTNPs showed a decrease of the quartile (P(25)-P(75)) of CD(4) from 601.00 (488.50-708.72)/µl to 494.00 (367.00-672.00)/µl, and the difference was significant (P<0.05). The increase of the quartile (P(25)-P(75)) of log(10)VL from 3.40 (2.87-3.97) to 3.48 (2.60-4.37), but the difference was not significant (P>0.05). HLA polymorphism analysis revealed that HLA-B*13:02 and HLA-B*40:06 were more common in LTNPs (P<0.05), while HLA-B*46:01 and HLA-DRB1*09:01 were more common in healthy controls (P<0.05). Conclusions: The CD(4) of LTNPs in Henan showed a downward trend year by year. HLA-B*13:02 and B*40:06 might be associated with delayed disease progression for HIV infected persons in Henan.

Objective: To analyze the polymorphisms of human leukocyte differentiation antigens Ⅰ and Ⅱ (HLA-A, B, DRB1) alleles and explore the association between HIV infection and HLA loci, for discovering the distribution of HLA loci in HIV-infected with different disease progression in different parts of Henan Province. Methods: A total of 48 cases of slow progressers and 80 typical progressers in Weishi County, Shangcai County, Xihua County and Xuchang City of Henan Province were studied, and compared with 380 healthy blood donors.For analyzing HLA-A, B, DRB1 alleles and comparing difference among the study subjects, the method of polymerase chain reaction-sequence special oligonucleotide (PCR-SSO) was used. Results: The association of HLA alleles and HIV infection showed that HLA-B*40∶02, HLA-DRB1*04∶05 was significantly more common in healthy people, while HLA-B*15∶18, B*44∶02, B*67∶01 and HLA-DRB1*14∶01 were present in HIV/AIDS.HLA-A*02∶06, HLA-B*13∶02, B*40∶06 in slow progressers were higher than typical progressers from the grouped study, and HLA-B*46∶01 only appeared in the typical progressers. Conclusion: HLA-B*15∶18, B*44∶02, B*67∶01, and HLA-DRB1*14∶01 may be associated with HIV susceptibility.HLA-A*02∶06, HLA-B*13∶02, and B*40∶06 may be associated with delayed disease progression in HIV-infected people, while HLA-B*46∶01 may be associated with accelerated disease progression.

Objective: To observe the effects of sural nerve nutrition vessels-supported flap for reconstruction of distal lower leg and ankle soft tissue defects. Methods: From June 2014 to June 2017, 37 patients with calf distal and ankle soft tissue defect were repaired with sural nerve nutrition vessels-supported flap, of them 12 cases with calf distal soft tissue defect wounds and 25 cases with ankle soft tissue defect wounds.The scope of flaps was 9 cm×4 cm to 18 cm×9 cm, anti-infection, anti-freezing and dressing treatments were carried out after operation.The results of two-point discrimination among reexamination were recorded. Results: All the flaps survived without ulcer and effusion, only 1 flap for reconstruction of medial malleolus swelled and deactivated at the beginning while it recovered with proper dressings.During the follow-up periods, all the flaps kept favorable feelings, aspects and functions, and the two-point discrimination was 5 to 15 mm [averaged (11.2±1.7) mm]. Conclusion: Sural nerve nutrition vessels-supported flap brings significant effects with excellent safety and reliability in repairing calf and ankle soft tissue defects.

The Shangcheng stout salamander (Pachyhynobius shangchengensis) is an endangered amphibian endemic to the Dabie Mountains, southeast China, and is currently threatened by habitat loss and illegal poaching. Here we used the mitochondrial DNA control region sequence (768 bp) to conduct a comprehensive investigation of genetic diversity, phylogeographic pattern, and demographic history of the species across its geographic distribution to assist its conservation. We concluded that the levels of genetic variation are relatively low in all four populations. Analysis of molecular variance indicated that the most likely phylogeographic pattern is [JGT] [KHJ] [TM, BYM]. Two distinct clades were identified in the phylogenetic tree of 28 haplotypes, corresponding to the two southern populations (TM, BYM) and two northern populations (JGT, KHJ). Significant population differentiation (FST) was detected among all populations. Among the four populations, historical demographic analyses (e.g., the g parameter, the Tajima D test, and the Fu Fs test) did not reveal definite information on population expansion except for the BYM population, which had undergone a strong population expansion event. Based on the analysis of a Bayesian skyline plot, the total population underwent a significant population fluctuation around 20 kya. This may have been triggered by the end of the last glacial maximum. In conclusion, the existence of three evolutionarily significant units (BMY-TM, KHJ, and JGT) and four management units (BMY, TM, KHJ, and JGT) is supported by our study.

Eight polymorphic microsatellite markers for Muntiacus reevesi were identified and characterized in this study. The number of alleles per locus ranged from 3 to 10 across 24-48 samples. The loci showed expected and observed heterozygosities of 0.577-0.876 and 0.387-0.933, respectively, with an average polymorphic information content value of 0.682. These markers should be a useful tool for further population and conservation genetic studies of Muntiacus reevesi.

This study is to investigate the relationships between prevalent cardiovascular events (myocardial infarction, stroke and peripheral arterial disease) and carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) in middle-aged and older adults; to assess which of the indexes, IMT in the common carotid artery (CCA), internal carotid artery (ICA) and carotid bifurcation (CB) separately or in combination, is a better correlate. IMT of the CCA, ICA and CB were measured with duplex ultrasound in 1058 individuals (aged between 37 and 86 years old) in a suburban community of Beijing. Histories of cardiovascular events as well as prevalent risk factors were obtained. CIMT were compared between groups with and without cardiovascular events. Associations of cardiovascular events with IMT measurements in CCA, CB and ICA were ascertained. The group with cardiovascular events had higher mean CIMT (0.74 (0.60-0.98) mm vs 0.65 (0.54-0.80) mm, P=0.000) and higher abnormal CIMT proportion (77.20 vs 64.45%, P=0.000). The odds ratio (OR) for myocardial infarction was 1.74 (P=0.010), for stroke 1.98 (P=0.001) and for peripheral arterial disease 1.80 (P=0.072) in abnormal CIMT. However, after adjustment of traditional risk factors, the correlations disappeared, implying that CIMT may act via other risk factors. After adjustment of age, mean CIMT correlated best with total cardiovascular events (OR: 4.39 (2.39-8.04), P=0.000) and stroke (OR: 4.98 (2.55-9.71), P=0.000) separately; mean posterior CIMT correlated with myocardial infarction best (OR: 2.97 (1.68-5.24), P=0.000). CIMT may act as an intermediate point for cardiovascular diseases. Combined CIMT might be the best index associated with cardiovascular diseases.

OBJECTIVE:The test is an analogue of the conditions that cast post and core can be made with different angles to get the core incline lingually or facially in clinic, so that the arrangement of the anterior teeth may be improved.METHODS:Analyse the stress distribution and concentration in the dentin of posts and cores with different angles by Ansys three dimensional finite element stress analysis method.RESULTS:The stress in root was positively related to the angles between the load and the axis of the tooth, the stress distributoin in dentin was related to the direction of the core but not related to the angles. The closer the distance from the load to cemento enamel junction,the greater the effect of the load on the stress in dentin.CONCLUSION:When the cast post and core with angle was used to rectify the facially malpositional maxillary anterior teeth, the core should not be inclined lingually excessively. It is important to assure the thickness of the facial and lingual canal wall during tooth preparing and to adjust the occlusion so that the root fracture can be avoided.

In this study,ceramic inlays made by CAD/CAM system were used to restore posterior tooth defects.After three years of clinical observation on 21 prostheses no secondary caries was found and patients satisfied with their restoration on aspects of color match and resistance to wear etc.Five cases of inlay fracture and of obvious space between inlay margin and Cavowall were found.The main reason was the insufficient thickness of the inlays meanwhile the selection of bonding agent was not appropriate.The clinical successful rate is 76.20%.As CAD/CAM is a sophisticated technique induced into prosthodontic area just in 1980's,it has still some deficiency to be improved and perfected.

The effect of the length of implants on stress distribution is one of the important subjects in implantology.In this study,Three dimensional finite element methods model was constructed by dental CT images,The purpose of this study was to evaluate the stress distribution in bone adjacent to an implant after application of loading in horizontal,oblique and vertical direction.It was show that the highest stress occured at the cervical bone margin adjacent to the implant only 10% decrease in inverse two times increase in implant length,and correlated little to the implant length,therefore,it was unnecessary to emphasize the length of the implants in clinic.

We have created embryonic stem (ES) cells and mice lacking the predominant isoform (alpha) of the calcineurin A subunit (CNA alpha) to study the role of this serine/threonine phosphatase in the immune system. T and B cell maturation appeared to be normal in CNA alpha -/- mice. CNA alpha -/- T cells responded normally to mitogenic stimulation (i.e., PMA plus ionomycin, concanavalin A, and anti-CD3 epsilon antibody). However, CNA alpha -/- mice generated defective antigen-specific T cell responses in vivo. Mice produced from CNA alpha -/- ES cells injected into RAG-2-deficient blastocysts had a similar defective T cell response, indicating that CNA alpha is required for T cell function per se, rather than for an activity of other cell types involved in the immune response. CNA alpha -/- T cells remained sensitive to both cyclosporin A and FK506, suggesting that CNA beta or another CNA-like molecule can mediate the action of these immunosuppressive drugs. CNA alpha -/- mice provide an animal model for dissecting the physiologic functions of calcineurin as well as the effects of FK506 and CsA.

The preparation of teeth for fixed prosthetic restoration needs the temporary restoration for various reasons.Once the enamel has been removed,a vital tooth of the sensitive dentin is exposed to the oral environment. If left unprotected teeth,the patient would experience a significant amount of sensitivity to the various stimulations to which the tooth is exposed.In addition,exposed dentin is much more susceptible to caries than enamel is.The prepared tooth is also lacking contact mesiodistall as well as occlusally with its counterparts in the dentition.It is not uncommon for the prepared tooth to drift mesially or distally or to extrued in an occlusal direction.This movement would,of course,cause problems in seating the final restoration.Temporization also allows for the testing of both the esthetic and functional design of the final restoration.The paper showed some fabrication methods for temporary crown and bridge and discussed the effect on the temporary crown and bridge and its needs for design.
